YMCA Visakhapatnam was started in the year 1973. This unit is affiliated to National Council of YMCAs of India, New Delhi and with the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs, Hong Kong as a part of YMCA World Alliance, Geneva. YMCA Visakhapatnam is cosmopolitan in its membership policies.
The activities undertaken are Christ Centered and Youth Focused. It is a registered Society under Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act XXI/1860 Regn. No. 139 /1979 of Visakhapatnam with a written Constitution.
YMCA Visakhapatnam is an autonomous unit and is managed by the Board of Directors democratically elected by the full members. The present Board consists of fifteen members including its President as Chief Executive. The administration is assisted by Professional Secretaries appointed from the YMCA National Roaster of Secretaries maintained by National Council of YMCAs of India.

Asia's only Beach YMCA is located at the prime beach front area of the City of Destiny. It is an autonomous social service centre, a charitable, nonprofit organization, whose purpose is to help to improve the quality of community life. The YMCA works to strengthen the Body, Mind & Spirit of all people. We encourage and build individual character by promoting the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
The members are from the city and to date, our YMCA has more than 1800 members and many programme participants, encompassing people of both sexes, all ages, religions and races.
